"
Name: Mufasa (can also be known as Muffy among fans) Species: Lion Gender: Male Movies: The Lion King (Adult). The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride (Ghost); The Lion King 1 1/2 (Adult). Books: Six New Adventures: The Tale of Two Brothers: Teenage/Adolescent. Friends in Need: Teenage/Adolescent. In every other Lion King book that I know of Mufasa appears as an Adult. Family: Mohatu - Grandfather; Ahadi, - Father; Uru - Mother; Scar - Brother; Sarabi - Mate; Simba - Son; Nala - Daughter-in-law; Kiara - Grand-daughter. Strengths: Mufasa's strengths include his great power, both physical and status wise. He is noble, wise and caring showing great affection for his family and his pride. He is brave and loyal, ruling pride rock with dignity. Weaknesses: Caring could also be called one of Mufasa’s weaknesses. He cares for his family and so allows Scar to live with the pride despite his obvious distain for Mufasa and his family. Mufasa would (and dose) sacrifice himself for his family, this is seen as a weakness by some like Scar. Personality: Mufasa rules a peaceful kingdom teaching of the “circle of life” and showing respect for every creature no matter how small. Inside he has a caring personality even though from the outside he can look sever and stern. Mufasa is a family lion, spending all the time he can with his son and the pride. He is a ruthless protector and will do whatever it takes to insure the safety of those he cares about. Known history: All of Mufasa's official history can be seen in The Lion King, however there are several books that tell stories of his past, but they are not always considered to be canon. In the book Six New Adventures: The Tale of Two Brothers we see Mufasa as an adolescent and learn that Scars grudge against his brother started long ago when he tries to get Mufasa in trouble with a water buffalo. Also in that book it is told of how he rescued Rafiki. In 'Friends in Need' we see Mufasa as an adolescent again. This time he rescues Zazu. In the end Zazu also helps Mufasa thus starting their friendship. There are several contradictions in the different books, and so it is really up to the reader to decide what to believe. Unique traits: Some of the unique traits of Mufasa are his small eyes in comparison to the other lions and strong nose and muzzle. When designing his character the Disney animators wanted to give him a regal and powerful look, they show this with his large, powerful for-legs and shoulders. Mufasa can look stern and can be seen with a furrowed brow even when he is in a pleasant mood. Personal view: Mufasa would have to be one of my all time favorite characters. To me he is the epitome of integrity, showing great wisdom and power. I love the bond he shares with Simba and the great care he shows for the cub. Really I just think Muffy's awesome, he's fun to draw, fun to make up history and theories about and has an awesome voice!

Pride Rock Net's Info:
The Lion King is the coming-of-age saga of a young lion cub, Simba. Born to King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi, he is the rightful heir to the throne. However, Mufasa's brother Scar is none too happy about having the "little hairball" take his place in line. His first attempt at taking back his title as prince by giving Simba the idea to go to the Elephant Graveyard fails. There the hyenas nearly had Simba and Nala but, thanks to Zazu and Mufasa, escaped. Then Banzai gives Scar another idea: kill Mufasa and Simba. The three villians stage a stampede in the gorge to get Mufasa to save Simba. Although the noble king gets his son to safety, he falls back into and climbs back up only to find his brother waiting to fling him off. The hyenas chase down Simba, who flees into the desert, but decide "he's as good as dead out there anyways." Timon, a meerkat, and Pumbaa, a warthog, find the young prince and help him to put the past to rest. They live their years in the jungle with hakuna matata until one day Nala shows up. She and Simba fall in love before long. Unfortunately, the reason she's there is to bring back help and Simba refuses to return believing he's guilty for his father's death. Rafiki had found out Simba was alive and also showed up there, as well as convince him that he was the rightful king with the help of Mufasa's ghost. So he returns to take his place as king with Nala, Timon, and Pumbaa at his side. They find out that Scar was Mufasa's murderer and battle ensues as the lionesses, Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa chase off the hyenas. Simba finally confronts Scar and throws him off Pride Rock, where the hyenas turn on him and the flames engulf them. The Pride Lands recover as Simba steps up as king with Nala as his queen and their new cub continuing the "circle of life."
" From the magnificent musical opening over breathtaking African visits to its rip-roaring, emotionally charged climax, The Lion King reigns supreme as animation's greatest crowning achievement. Set amid the majestic beauty of the Serengeti, Disney's epic coming-of-age saga tells of the love between a proud lion ruler, Mufasa, and his son Simba - a naive and curious cub who "just can't wait to be king." Out from the shadows prowl Simba's envious Uncle Scar and his hyena henchmen. Their scheming for the throne leads to tragedy...and Simba's exhile from the kingdom he should rightfully rule. Befriended by the warmhearted warthog Pumbaa and his manic meerkat companion, Timon, Simba forgets his regal responsibilities and adopts the carefree lifestyle of "Hakuna Matata." But can Rafiki, a wise mystical baboon, help Simba reclaim his true destiny in the "circle of life"? With a #1 hit soundtrack featuring songs by Elton John and Academy Award-winning lyricist Tim Rice, and score by Hans Zimmer - and the greatest cast of voice-over stars ever assembled - The Lion King triumphs with animation described by the New York Daily News as "no less than perfection....stunning!"
