The show focuses on the characters Timon and Pumbaa, mainly before Simba. Most of the episodes are completely unconnected with The Lion King, usually with the duo's travels around the world, back in time, and even in space. There are episodes completely lacking Timon and Pumbaa themselves, starring either the hyenas or Rafiki. It has also brought a long list of characters, some of which you wouldn't think to associate with The Lion King (Mr. Happy for example). However, with Disney's release of The Lion King 1 1/2 (The Lion King III: Hakuna Matata) it seems they don't even acknowledge the wacky adventures.
